Politico's investigation of the Department of Justice's detailing of immigration judges to "surge courts" relied on NIJC Transparency Project data obtained via Freedom of Information Act and found that not only did the shifting of judges extend case delays at interior immigration courts, but that many judges arrived at their detail assignments and had nothing to do.
