President Trump’s April 29 memorandum violates our nation’s longstanding laws and international obligations. These measures will not make our country safer, but rather weaker by abandoning our most cherished principles.

Short-circuiting due process, imposing fees while denying access to employment authorization, and demonizing asylum seekers casts America as nation of ignorant intolerance rather than as the human rights leader we should aspire to be.

The Trump administration has yet again demonstrated its willful blindness and calculated cruelty.
